Volume button on Sony Media Center remote does not change volume through optical SPDIF.
Same problem happened with a Humax PVR-9200T (awesome machine but not very high resolution) and they managed to fix this one.
Anyone know if there is a patch for this please.
Hi dickielucas and welcome to ClubVAIO.
You cannot change the optical volume on Vaio Desktops and I assume it is the same for the XL-100. Optical Out is a pre-amp digital signal.
Have a look HERE
Many thansk for your reply.
My understand was the same, that optical is pre-amp output could nto be changed. That said, Humax managed to come up with a solution.
Can Sony do the same as Humax?
This is what I did to get the volume button to work on my VGX-lx100. It works fine but need to by full version of gringer after trail period expired.
1) Download and install Girder:
http://www.promixis.com/download.php?ID=932
2) Download the MCE remote plugin for it:
http://www.promixis.com/download.php?ID=739
3) Copy the plugin file to the plugins folder and set it up in the main
Girder program
4) Now you can assign keystrokes to IR codes from the MCE remote
You may find that the volume button now tries to control both sliders at
once, in which case I would use the MCE remote's learning ability to
change the volume button to a random IR function from another remote
that does not get used in the same room. This way it will only trigger
the desired the keystroke and not the windows master volume as well.
