Jaan is correct - again

Go to John Lewis and demand cash or replacement.

Yeah, but you'll get the usual rubbish - "we can't, you've had it > 21 days" or "it's been used heavily" or "We can't it's company policy not to return things that are looked after by a third party"....

Have fun, and use trading standards if all goes heavy.

When the Sony shop refused to let me return for refund my 32" Wega (only two weeks old, bought when they first came out - it blew up after two weeks), when they told me that it would take approx. 6 months to be repaired, with no loan TV..

I found turning up on their doorstep complete with said 32" TV, and dumping it down on the counter in the middle of a packed shop, demanding (loudly, of course) a refund for goods that only worked for two weeks, worked quite well! They refunded in full  Probably because everyone else in the shop was listening intently, and putting down their potential Sony purchases

Classic - that's great, I'll have to do that next time something like that happens.
Bet they were well annoyed.

I'm usually Mr Meek and Mild, honest  But as you can imagine, after spending £1500 on a TV that worked for all of two weeks, and to then be told it'd be months before it could be fixed or replaced, with no loan TV.. I was a tad disgruntled

Felt good to get my own way, though

I did the same thing as Aaronjb except I did it at PC World - I got a replacement printer and I'd had that for 7 months. Polite but firm and don't accept no for an answer.

Do it when the shop is full for best results.

Yeah - ranting at them achieves little (except getting yourself escorted off the premises if you're unlucky!).. Staying perfectly calm freaks them out though

Last time this salesperson got agravated when I was telling him my case. His manager pulled him up and told him to behave.
