Wi Fi died?!

Hi all,

I seem to be plagued by random failings with my Viao VGN-A417M.

After the death and rising of my dvd drive, now my Wi Fi has gone. I was using it, then i closed the lid, reopened it about 30mins later, and when it came back from hybernation the WiFi had died. I know it's not my router as i took the laptop to another WiFi hotspot and it wouldn't pick anything up.

Any help once again, greatly recieved!

Delete the driver and reboot. It will automatically replace the driver. Right Click My Computer/properties/devicemanager/Wlan driver

hi peeps,

I tried unistalling the driver and rebooting, but alas nothing changed, it did exactly the same with the dvd drive, it just acts as if you haven't uninstalled anything... very frustrating! I recently had an accident which is stopping me from driving or getting about, so taking it back to the shop isn't possible at the moment.

go back to cable. wifi ain't nearly stable enough to bother with for quite a while. i wasted some precious lolly on wifi and the best bit of it is the router. with the laptop within feet of the router, the signal kept dropping and it's only 54mbps anyway. the router, by cable, is 100mpbs. i just got a long cable and ran it to where i wanted to have the laptop.

it must be hard for folk who need the facility.

Check the SSID is right and you have a password for WPA or WEP depending on your setup

It doesn't detect the wifi at all, so the password thing doesn't really matter...

The Wi Fi Light is not on...

Thanks for all the help by the way!
