Vaio VGN-FE11H - DVD Burning takes too long

I have a problem with the Pioneer DVR-k16M within the VGN-Fe11H:

DVD-burning should be possible up to 8X but for me burning with e.g. 4x takes up to one hour (burning with 8x produces only unreadable disks).

I am using HQ DVD-R by Verbatim manufactured for speeds up to 16x and CD burning speed is ok. burning software is Nero 7.

so I wonder if there is a problem with the DVR-K16M firmware and an update would possibly solve the problem. has anyone similar problems or experiences?

next question:

why is it that there isn't any hint about the Pioneer burner (driver, firmware, etc.) within the Vaio support section? there's listed the Matsushita UJ-841 optical drive only. however as the Pioneer is an OEM Version how to get some new drivers or firmware updates at all?

help and hints are very appreciated!

Thanks
Frank

Hi Frank and welcome to the Club!

If there is a Sony OEM driver update it will appear on your Vaio Update page accessed by going to Vaio Update or entering your Vaio's serial number. I presume there isn't one - but as you say there is a Matsushita update on the generic site for the FE11H.

Regarding your burning speed, do you have DMA enabled?
