I have a VGC M1 desktop it has 5 usb 2 ports but they are all set at low speed how do I set them to high speed
Yeah, it's a fake from Sony. I have 3 USB 2.0 Ports on my Laptop. But the reality is : Only on of them is an USB 2.0 Port.

Yeah,
The other both are only connected with the USB 2.0 Port (like a Hub)
I think your desktop VAIO has the same ****, tikka.
I know the front ones are USB2, as I plugged in my Maxtor USB2 drive.
check this with SiSoftSandra or Everest Home Edition. Then you see which are USB 2.0 ports.
Or start the Systeminformation tool and make a look by "components", "USB".
USB\ROOT_HUB20 = USB2.0
USB\ROOT_HUB = USB
The USB\ROOT_HUB20 use an extended Host Controller and the USB\ROOT_HUB use an universal Host Controller.
The extended Host Controller has his own power supply and the universal Controller get his energy from the extended Controller.
That's the same like a USB Hub which you use, if you not have enough USB Ports.
max 500mA on the extended Controller
max 100mA on the universal Controller
Ah I see
(out of topic)
I've noticed the a MemoryStickPro isn't faster as a MemoryStick.
True, If you write data on the MemoryStick. The MemoryStickPro is faster.
But if you read data, both have the same speed. LOL
I think it's because it's only USB 1.1
I have a build in MemoryStick slot in my VAIO.
If I formating my 256MB MSPro Duo, I need approx 3-4 seconds. My 64MB MS needs approx 10seconds.
But if I copy a file (same size) from the Stick to the HD, both Sticks needs the same time.
Mmmh, strange:smileycool:
