Sony V2S - Problem sorted - Many thanks

Guys, I'm so glad I came on here and asked you all. Guess what was causing the graphical glitches....

ZONEALARM!!!!

Thank you so much. I have no put the hammer back in the garage that I was going to use to smash the machine into little pieces.

I would try forcing a clean reinstall of Internet Explorer, you can do it via the Microsoft website. Or first, if you do into Add/Remove programs and select Internet Explorer I believe their is a 'Repair' option in addition to uninstall. My memory is a bit hazy on how to get to it though. Even if you use another browser, much of the important stuff is intergration into Windows and/or IE.

Thanks for the tips. I ran Ace Utilities and it cleaned out a fair amount of rubbish from the registy. I'm running Norton at the moment and then I will re-boot......

Kieron....might have the solution...
Do u use the preinstalled Norton (SecuritySuite)?
If yes...i would deinstall it completly and use some freeware tools.(AntiVir and Outpost-Firewall)
This might be your problem, NORTON uses to block almost all actions despite if secure or not.
Maybe this would help.

Btw....how is ur V2S in other terms?

... As for how the rest of the machine is - well it's a beautiful design with the best LCD screen I have ever seen, I'm a little concerned about the non upgradability, I imagine the HD would be removable for something bigger in the future, but the graphics card and pretty much everything else looks integrated to the motherboard.

Even upgrading the memory is a Sony only job (unless you want to void the warranty....)

Basically it's a pretty laptop that's not mobile......
