RAM VA1

Doe's anyone know if there is an memory upgrade for my VGC-VA1?

On the web it looks like you can take the computer up to 2GB of RAM.

There are only two memory slots, so I'm assuming that one can replace the two 512MB Modules with two 1 gig Modules.

Slot A one component so you can have a 512 Module, 1GIG Module or a 2GIG Module
Slot B one component so you can have a 512 Module, 1GIG Module or a 2GIG Module

It is just knowing the limits of your motherboard if you put 2GIG in each Slot you total 4GIG
This would just blow your system surly, Looking at the Reply from crucial your Motherboard is not DDR-II Dimm Complant. They say you can Upgrade to 2GIG on your motherboard with there non DDR-II Modules 2GB CT2KIT12864AA53E - CL=4
This would put you with 1GIG in each slot  Not bad if there right

Just as a follow up.

FYI I've upgraded the RAM in my VGC VA1 to 2Gb using Crucial Memorys recommended RAM as detailed in their email to me (see copy of email in my earlier post).

 3 days and no problems, so I think it's safe to say that RAM from Crucial or similar spec can be used to upgrade the memory to 2 Gb.

Hope this helps

Hi Rich77,

I have ordered the same spec RAMS from Crucial (2x1GB), however on installation I get the 'blue screen'. Both sticks work fine independantly, but together there appears a conflict. Did you have to do a BIOS update? Any suggestions from anyone would be helpful.

Thankyou,
Joliraja

I finally got my RAM from Kingston. so far so good, no blue screens.

If you are getting a blue screen i woud surgest a BIOS update if it does not fix it i dont think it will do any harm.
