RAM VA1

Doe's anyone know if there is an memory upgrade for my VGC-VA1?

On the web it looks like you can take the computer up to 2GB of RAM.

Hi Rich77,

Out of interest were did you find this info on the Web  Usually i don't agree with going over the Manufacturers Specs as you can't be to sure if your Motherboard could take a good toasting.
The only exception i make when Upgrading RAM is CRUCIAL.COM. As they have a Very good Reputation & are very good at topping the Manufacturers Specs & still being safe to Use. On the Crucial Site i came back with the Suggestion they can only Upgrade to 1024MB which is Standard so Crucial really can only replace the Existing RAM here take a look

Hi Rich77,

According to the Specs for the VA1, you are unable to upgrade the RAM on this model..

This is very strangeOrca state that you can upgrade to 2gb but Crucial do not appear to list your VA1 on there site..

I find this a bit confusing !!

I find conflicting information with Google. Some sites say you have 2 slots and some say 4. Some say 1024MB max and others say it is upgradable to 2048MB.

Hi Rich77

I've currently got an enquiry with CRUCIAL MEMORY regarding memory upgrade for the VGC VA1
I've sent them a report generated from CPUZ, a system query program they recommended and I'm awaiting a reply.

As soon as I get an answer, I'll post it here.

Im a little lost. To sum the reply up you can add RAM, but only the one's you mentioned?? How many free slots does VA1 have?

Thanks for finding out TD

There are only two memory slots, so I'm assuming that one can replace the two 512MB Modules with two 1 gig Modules.
