Protected CDs :(

 I know that this doesn't have anything directly to do with the Vaio Pocket but I need somewhere to express my grief.
A coupla years back I bought Jennifer Lopez's album 'J to tha L-O'. This cd refuses to play on a 'PC OR MAC'. Which in turn means that I can't get it onto my PC and transferred to my Pocket. :slight_frown: This really sucks.
An interesting point is guess who J-LO's signed to?...
Yep that's right it's SONY'S Epic label.
Has anyone got any ideas on how to get them onto my Pocket w/o being rather naughty and downloading them, cos I would have to do this track..by...track:smileyblush:

i use musicmatch jukebox,i suppose you can find it on the net....or else buy it!

it allows users to record mp3s from cds[otherwise called ripping] and i have discovered that after version 8.2 or so,it can do that with copyright or copy controlled cds too.

hope it helps you,it surely works out fine with me

trick that may work - holding down shift whilst putting the cd in will prevent any software that is on the disc from running automatically. the cd itself must contain the audio as standard CDA files, otherwise standard cd players wouldn't be able to run them. might help you get them into mp3 format (gotta be careful about the phrasing of this reply!)

that shift trick doesnt work proeprly.if you use the right software, the copyright cds are no prob for you.

Itunes rips all copy protected CD's I have tried!

Convert to WAV then ATRAC!

there are many programs to do this job.
just choose one that is easy and downloadable in a short time and begin cracking....

Thanks for all your help but neither iTunes or Music Match will pick up the CD. They both see my CD-ROM drive as being empty:smileysad:

FINALLY i have managed to use Musicmatch JUKEBOX to pick up my CD and rip the tracks to MP3, i'm converting the files to ATRAC3plus as I'm writing this. Boy does this format takes ages to convert to, but it'll be worth the wait.
Many thanks for your help and tips.
