Hi mchrysanthou and welcome to Club Vaio.

Quite a few club members have managed to install XP using the Original Drivers and the Original Utilities for the VGN-FE31B Model Downloads

However, this is not always straightforward and most of the Preinstalled Software on your Vaio will not work with XP and so it will be lost.

Unfortunately, we will all have to get used to using Vista someday.

no, there are loads of crappy files that you will have to go through, and that put me off, please tell me if thats changed, and i REALLY ON ADVISE you downgrade, i did exactly the same thing, trust me u will just end up putting vista back on, because on xp i dont think it recocnised the graphics card for mine,

No, Make your Recovery Discs for Vista Home Premium so you can reinstall this if everything goes wrong. You will also have to reload Vista if you hsve to make a claim from Sony under the Guarantee. Theu will not support your Vaio with XP installed.

Start -> Type into the Search 'Vaio Recovery Utility'
Open this and choose to make a "Media Recovery Kit"
You will need two or possibly three DVD+R or DVD-R discs.

These are your Vista Home Premium OEM Discs.
