memorystick drive icon

I did a clean instal with a windows xp home cd. Installed all the vaio drivers etc one by one. Don't need all the bells and whistles. But there's one thing that bugs me. The memorystick drive icon is blank. How can i assign an icon. And where do i find one? It's very strange I always thought windows had a memory stick logo included.

back in win2k days i thought it was quite simple to change a drive icon.
I think it must be fixed in the registry. But where can we find the original memorystick icon that comes with windows ?

Erm, if u need the Memory Stick Icon back, u need a dll or icon file to able to get the picture.. but because you have install a clean windows xp rather than using the original vaio settings, so you won't get the icon.. Maybe u need to search "Memory Stick icon" from google.com and some forumer will teach u how to get back the icon on ur computer back.. hehe..

maybe try searching google on 'memory stick icon' yourself. You'll see almost no relevant info. dunno Is'nt there anybody who can post a link to the .ico file ? assigning new drive icons should work through the registry

instal the driver package for the memory stick usb adaptor.
the icon will appear instantly!

I have the same problem and this Tip doesn't work for me. But if someone could post the original image (uncompressed and in original file format) Then I would be happy too.:smileyhappy:

Just rename and crop the file. This is a screenshot and not the original icon. I got it from a friend. I would give it a shorter name. Just in 8+3 style, LOL. If someone now where the original icon is, then please post it here.:smileyhappy:

Seb I used that patch with a vaio vgn-A517B.
Maybe you need to use the driver install of another memory stick usb adaptor. There's a quite big amount of different models.

In "My Computer" it is labelled "Memory Stick".

I did a search in the registry for "Memory Stick" and when I found the appropriate entry.

The Icon entry was as follows:

%SystemRoot%\system32\shell32.dll,-305

The -305 gives you the memory stick picture I think,
