Hi,
I have a PCV-RX407 and wish to upgrade it some.
The memory is the easy part as I have 512 of Mem and should be able to take 1.5G
The graphics I'm not sure on however as I get conflicting reports.
PCWizard says I have a AGP version 2.3 (which if so I ain't gonna be happy about) but a site I read a review on said it was AGP 4x
The motherboard is an AsusTEK P4S533VX
Asus seem to have no info on that when i looked (helpful) and Sony just show their latest range and seem to ignore the others.
I need to know what card I can fit in there for SWG, my MX460 and the 512 memory are coping but 1gig mem and a better graphics card should make it alot better.
Thanks
Leigh
Try Sandra, that will tell you exactly.
Sandra is a program that analyses your computer components, not a person. Just thought I'd make that clear to the uninformed among us
Ok,
I got this
AGP Bus(es) on Hub1
Version 2.00
Speed 4x
Fast WRite Enabled No
Side Band Enabled No
Side Band Support Yes
Aperture Size 64Mb
So is it a 2x Slot using a 4x card or a 4x slot that's version 2?
Sorry for the questions, I did ask Son'y themselves but they haven't yet replied.
Thanks
Leigh
Hi Leigh, it's AGP v2.00 - running at 4x
not 2x.
Sorry I must of put my dumbhead on today.
Did you mean it's a AGP x2 either using a card that's x4 or running at x4 for some reason.
Or
That's it's a 4x slot but version 2 of 4x
Just that's if it's an AGP x4 slot I can put in any card that say's x4/x8 otherwise I'll be searching for the not uite so good one's that do x2/x4/x8
So I've read anyway.
I think it's telling you it's a 4x slot, not the card itself.
Most AGP 2.00 complient cards will work in that slot.
Great ..
Then I'll look mainly at the x4/x8 compatible cards but keep an eye out and see if any company has x2/x4/x8 version's just incase.
isnt the rx series newer than the rs ??????????
