CD ROM/DVD drive

I have an 8 week old Vaio VGN A117S, I was in love with it, it replaced two Stellite Toshibs Pros which lasted 2 months.

Now my VAIO has lost the will to notice the CD Rom drive, it sees the DVD , which of course is the same drive, yet it will not notice the CD drive for ROM of Music.

Anyone any ideas?
