Hello,
I have a FS315E and I would like to make a memory upgrade. I want to buy 2 modules (512 each) for a dual 1GB of RAM.
In the Spec Book it says that this laptop has a default 215x2 DDRII SDRAM 400 PC2 3200 RAM, or a 512x2 DDRII SDRAM 400 PC2 3200 RAM. What I want to know if it is ok to buy modules with better specs than those (in the Spec Book it just says 2GB max, no specs) ? I don't pretty much care if the better modules work only as 400 PC2 3200, I just want them to work.
Hi ado_ro
According to the specs your FS315E uses DDR2 400mhz So-Dimm modules
Have a look at Cruical.com they recommend 2x1GB DDR2 PC2-4200 memory module..
Several members have bought extra RAM from crucial and another benefit from buying from Crucial is there memory compatibility guarantee.
Also you may find this guide, from Sony, on how to upgrade your Vaio's memory of interest..
Thank you very much.
There is no way to burn my mainboard if the RAM is not exactly what SONY sayz, right ?
The laptop won't start, or I'll get that long beeping sound that says that memory module is not ok. Right ?
Hi ado_ro,
Your Vaio should be fine, as I said several members have bought RAM from Crucial.com and they also offer a 30-day money-back compatibility guarantee..
Thank you very much.
You're welcome..
