Format Computer

Is there anybody that has tried this:

You need to format your computer. You copy the Sony folder (with all the sonic stage installation) and the library in the Vaio pocket or another external device.

Format computer. Reinstall Windows. Install Sonic Stage. Overwrite this isntallation with the one you kept.

Could it work?

Maybe saving some windows registry settings?

glad you finally got things sorted ruben:smileygrin:

as for downloading ss3.0 i personally advise you not to install it as people have been saying it offers more harm than good.

I may leave it then....Just another question though. Why SS3.0 is not availablefor download from the vaio-link site? Do I have to search all the Sony sites to find what I am looking for or it's just being stupid??? :tired:

by the time i did that the 3.0 wasnt out yet,so there was no conflict.
not quite sure how you can do that...i suppose by uninstalling 3.0 nothing will change much!
im telling you sstage is a mess you cant get anything right with it!

f**k and f**k sony for giving us that as the only option we have!
thats why people requested real player and musicmatch support!

if we are lucky enough we will live to see those prgs supporting vp.

as for your problem,i dont think there is much i can offer.
maybe if i try going to my friends house again[hes got 3.0 now],but it will be long before i can do that.will try though, just to see the prg reaction!will let you know.

I have SS3.0 in my laptop at home. Then I installed SS3.0 in the work laptop and it didn't let me transfer or play music from the VP but I could see it and edit it.

Then, back home, I logged in to the Connect Authorization info. I saw my computer accessing and also another one that tried to access (it's indicated the date of access). You can give a name to it so I called one HOME and the other one WORK. I cliced on "authorize" for the WORK computer so when I went to the office the next day, I could access to the VP after logging in.

You can authorize till 5 computers.

well it seems to have worked out for you but what about all the people that complain about their vp not being supported or recognized from ss 3.0[mainly]?

sony has made many mistakes on this bit of the vp...[reffering to software]

ruben how did you authorise the vp if ss 3.0 europe isnt out yet? or maybe ive just answered the question because your not using 3.0 but 2.3... This is exactly why ive been writing emails to connect so many times asking when ss 3.0 europe is being released. I have some music on my notebook and some on our desktop and i cant use both. Im not going to authorise it with 2.3 only to format my vp when i upgrade to 3.0 because i actually believe 3.0 is significantly better than 2.3. Only problem is the "connect team" keep tellin me its out "within the month" and that was ages ago.

why dont you authorize it now?
and why do you think that 3.0 is much better?
all i ve heard is people complaining about it and when someone said a little more details he said that it is quite faster but apart from that, the same s**t...

Hello,

I have read all the posts with interest as I am planning to format my computer. My music is almost 5Gb. In order to make things a bit more clear in my head, I would appreciate if you could explain me what is going on

If I format my pc, couldn't I install SS (I use v2.3) again and then transfer my music from the VP to the pc?

I have read that for connecting the VP to another computer, there is the need to register it. What do you mean by that? Also, what is the Connect Authorization info?

What about the option copying the Sony folder (with all the sonic stage installation) and the library in the Vaio pocket or another external device, then format computer; reinstall Windows; install Sonic Stage and overwrite this isntallation with the kept? If I have understood well, it doesn't work.

Thanks in advance

Hey MadarbWot i cant authorise it, it just takes me to the connect website and nothing happens. Can you help? I believe ss 3.0 is better because you can at least order your tracks in terms of artist, bit rate, codec, instead of just the god damm album. the dreaded "source" column has disappeared (which i think caused many problems) and its faster at transferring. At the end of the day its a whole new update, hence why its 3.0 and not 2.4!
