Very strange problem!

Sometimes, when i try to access a cd/dvd in the drive i get the above error.

Also, when i install some things, it find all the files on the CD, lets me browse the CD, but then when installing it fails to find the files.

Soooooo, the drive itself isnt entirely fault, as I can sometimes work it, and it can usually at least view the files on the CD/DVD...

I've formatted, back to the original vaio software which usually works fine, but this hasnt solved my problem.....

Try a DVD lens cleaner

Right, bought a lense cleaning kit but still having the same issues.

There are certain CD drives such as the DW-D56A that are known to be inherently erratic/unreliable.

It may possibly help someone to provide further assistance if you posted your Vaio and CD drive model.

Well it's a vaio fs115b with a matshita uj-831da dvd writer....
