DRIVER AND UTILITY PACKAGES

Hi all, i've just downloaded the above packages off the vaio website for Notebook model VGN-A115S!

trouble is, there is nothing in the zip file!!!!

is there anywhere else i can get them, real desperate!!

I've tried downloading these files two or three times now and still getting nothing!!!

PLEASE HELP!!

Hi L_Marsh82 and welcome to Club Vaio.

Where are you trying to download them from? Are you trying from Here: -

http://support.vaio.sony.co.uk/downloads/select/select.asp?site=voe_en_GB_cons&category=0&serie=VGN-...

Do youstill have your Recovery Discs - they will be on those.

Are you still using the original Operating System as they will probably be held on your hard drive in C:\Utils and C:\Drivers.

Give us an idea of what you are trying to do and we may be able to help.

i don't have the recovery disks, it's not mine, it's a friends! i'm blowing his hdd away using win98 fdisk and reinstalling xp!!

i don't want to give it back to him knowing that there is no original drivers or utilities on it!

i am competent in what i'm doing but i need the drivers and utilities to complete!

The download seems to work OK for me. All the files seem to download.

Are you sure you have all/system/hidden files visible in Explorer?

ok just read the error report again from winrar, and it says that the file format is unrecognised??

whatever that means

I wouldn't use WinRAR - just download the .zip file. Right-click on it in Windows XP explorer and choose 'Extract'

Extract the Drivers to C:\Drivers
Extract the Utilities to C:\Utilities

I have just upgraded to Vista and my USB ports seem to have been downgraded to USB1.1 - anyone help?

ok tried that!

it says there is no files to extract!

if i try to explore the zip folder it says it's unrecognized or corrupt!

i can't figure it out, is there anywhere else i can download them from or is my pc and my mates laptop!?

ok, i'm sorted!

it was coz i was using flashget to download, it obviously didn't download all the files!!

I know it's no consolation but I have just downloaded the pre-installed drivers file, extracted with Win-RAR and the files are fine..???

Does your friend have the recovery disc's, if so would it not be simpler to restore the Vaio using those disc's..?

Have you tried downloading from a different connection, possibly a neighbours house..
