Hello. I have a Sony Bravia TV bought in around 2018. It has one HDMI ports and a few USB ports. I want to connect a TV box and a Firestick. Both have HDMI connections. If I buy a USB to HDMI adapter would this work please? Sorry for the stupid question. I am a complete technophobe. Thank you!

Thank you for your reply. It was really useful. It made me have a better look and there are more HDMI ports, hidden by my bracket. I just assumed that they would all be together. Thank you!
First of all you can you tell us the model number of your TV, its kind of important.
Also I would be surprised if a TV from 2018 only had one HDMI input. I would have thought at least two.
One would be a normal HDMI input and the other would be an HDMI input with ARC (audio return channel) so you can connect your TV to a soundbar or AV system.
Can you check the side and the back of your TV to see if there isn't at least one more HDMI input on your TV.
Pease remember to supply us with the model number of the TV it would normally start with KD or KDL
and should be on the label at the back or be found through the Settings menu, perhaps Settings> Help.
If indeed your TV only has one HDMI input then you may want to consider an HDMI switcher, this allows you to connect two or more HDMI devices through the one HDMI input, using the switch to select between the different devices. The HDMI switch/ splitter will preserve the UHD 4K video from the Firestick toy your TV (if it is a 4k TV).
I have noticed that if you enter HDMI to USB converter into somewhere like Amazon you will mostly get results for USB to HDMI converter. That leads me to conclude that there may be a difference where it is easier to convert the output from a USB device to HDMI, than it is to convert and preserve the output of an HDMI device (a 4K streaming device like the Firestick) through the TVs internal USB pc board.
Let's see if somebody can give you more detailed advice concerning a HDMI to USB A converter.
Please note that your TV will use USB A connectors and this is important when selecting a converter as some are USB- C, and won't operate on your TV.
Thank you! I’ve had a better look and there they are!
