I cannot connect to Win7 32 bit.
Firmware: 6.0.A.3.73
PC: Win7 32-bit and installed PC and installed Sony PC Companion 2.1
Window 7 could regonize the xperia S when the first plug into PC.
However, no internal file could show up.
After that the window cannot regonzie the phone.
If I remove the data in "MtpApp", the phone just like the first plug state.
** I could update the 73 firmware due to remove the data in MtpApp, otherwise window cannot connect to xperia S.
Please help to get back the USB connection to the phone~~~

Read what I have put on here worked for me http://talk.sonymobile.com/message/224208#224208
I suggest that you try between different USB ports on your PC and if it makes no difference try reinstalling Windows Media Player on the computer.

Sorry that I already tried the above methods.
Actually, before update to 67 (the firmware comes with the mobile is 63??), I can use the MTP in win7 and window Xp without any trouble.
However, after the updates (67, 73), I cannot connect the Xperia S with my PC (Win7 and Winxp).
But why I clear up the MtpApp data the PCC can connect to Xperia once only?
To confirm if this is a phone problem or not you could check if you can't get connection on another PC as well.
I have the same problem and it doesn't come from the PC, I tried in Win7 Home Premium, Win7 PRO (Both x64) and WinXP (x32)...And all the cases it's the same (MTP error); and in the device manager says "the device could not initialize "
I could update the phone using the "Update Service" program (because the PC Companion did work properly), but updating didn't help.
I have to tranfer my data through FTP, and not through USB. it's annoying because the transfer speed is very slow.
Any other phone 4 times cheaper than this, works better with USB connection... Actually all others phones works, but in the case of the Xperia it doesn't.
Do you have any information when the system will update to the ICS version, this problem would be resolved?
Do you have any other solution to try if it works?

hi . when i have this problem..(not every time) i just uninstall drivers from Xperia S in "device manager " (right click and uninstal ) and it will innstall new driver , and in that way PC (should) see again ur phone. for me this works,
im on win 7 64bit
Have you tried using the wifi connection capability instead it so much easier than messing about with plugging it in
Well... I uninstalled and installed the PC Companion, I removed the data of the MtpApp and in this way The device could be found.... but when I entered in the device to explore the folders, It was clean... nothing...
So, I unplugged and plugged the device... and start from the begining... mtp error.
I've tried to connect it by Wifi but first it has to be recongnized by the "Pc Companion" and of course it doesn't work; so cleaning MtpApp, unplugging and plugin, the PC Compaion reconginzed it, the device asked me to associate with my PC..bla bla... BUT when I goes to look for my Pc in "the trusted devices" in the Xperia, the list is empty. (and I'm telling you the sort version, because it was more elaborate to reached to asosiate to my PC).
I tried hundreds of times, uninstall drivers from Xperia S in "device manager " ; I've tried a lot of test, I've been changing the steps If I can get it to work... but I can't...
the truth is that the Xperia S (speaking about USB Connection)is a total loss of time, do not understand ....it's so easy an USB connection, why they have complicated with programs or MTP....
It seems that I have to continue going by the FTP connection.. :'(
Well for me I had this problem it seems it is coming from PC companion new update I rely could not update my music because of the problem. I have uninstalled it and it stareted working fine, since then i use Media Go. I wish this helps.
I had the same problem, it was fixed when I connected my Phone and then I went out, returned 5 mins. later and there it was; since then everything worked fine, i think win7 (I use x64) needs time to adjust the drivers, or the MTP App needed that time to recognize the connection
