Xperia OTG power

Xperia OTG power

Hi there,

I'm thinking of buying a Sony mobile for the sake of their USB OTG and ICS support.

I see that every now and then a USB device is not working properly because it would need more current than the mobile could supply.

I do not want to buy or carry around a powered USB hub for that reason.

Can you tell me which Sony mobile to get in order to steer clear of those issues?

How much Watt/milliAmps can I expect to come out of a Xperia model?

Best regards

Tamara

Hello talexander

I'm checking to see if I can get you a proper figure...

I'm getting is 5V or 500ma as the standard for OTG.

But people report errors of consumption at the 500ma limit.

I'll keep checking...

Hello Tamara.

The issue is really what device are you going to connect to the phone...

I've seen people connect Usb thumbdrives keyboards and mouses with no issues

but If you are going to be using game controlers or multiple devices at once you might need either a powered hub or a SmartDock for the phone.

Thank you Francis

Let's say the device I'm going to connect draws about 50mA.

Will it work?

I think comparing 2 figures is better than guessing. Winking_Face
