Xperia Arc Wi-Fi Problems

Hi, so earlier today i updated my Xperia Arc to the latest android (ice cream sandwich), everything worked and was going smooth, i installed it, it was running the latest version but somehow my Wi-Fi wasn't working at all, i am sure it is not my routers problem because when i search for networks it doesn't even appear on the phone (Wi-Fi is working for everyone else), so then i went into Settings > About Phone > Status, there isn't even a IP Address or a Mac Adress in there (i am sure there was before), please help someone!

When you're not connected to a WiFi network the Mac address will show as "Unavailable".

How did you update your phone? To my knowledge, Xperia arc has not received the ICS update just yet.

If you're using unofficial software this could be the reason. Features like WiFi and camera are quite common to be the ones not working when running custom ROMs that are not 100% working.

The Xperia arc hasn't recieved the ICS update yet? oh sh*t mine must me a unofficial software then... then i was wondering if there is anyway to downgrade it back to the original(through the official sony)?

Also thanks for your reply Slightly_smiling_Face

Depending on how you did the update it might have to be done in a certain way. I'm not sure to be honest.

You can try to run PC Companion and do a software repair and see if it works. I would however see if there's any instructions on this where you found the ICS update. It's hopefully mentioned here.

Yeah thanks, but i ended up flashing onto a difference version of the ICS from another website, so now i have the ICS 4.0 (unofficial though) and my WiFi works now, checked my mac address and i have it now   . thanks everyone

Just realized this, everyone keep in mind that when you update to the ICS unofficial your battery life goes down a shit load, when you sleep now you have to remenber to turn off your WiFi (if you want to keep the phone on, otherwise you can just turn it off), i also googled around and i the market registers your Xperia Arc as a Xperia Arc S (which is weird), yeah these are the only problems with the Unofficial ICS for anyone whos planning on instsalling it.

But i suggest waiting for the official ICS.
