Hi,
I've just try to set the an email account on my X10 mini using the "Email" app.
App ask for "Yahoo", "hotmail", ... and 2 others providers.
I choose "hotmail" and enter account and password... ok it's working.
(my 50 messages are tagged "not read" and there is no way to tag all of them "read", but it's not the main problem now)
But it was just a test, what I want is to setup my yahoo account.
THE PROBLEM IS that now, when I open the "Email" app, it opens directly my hotmail account.
I can't find any menu to close it or change it .... !!!
I need HELP !!!
Solved! Go to Solution.
Go to Settings> Sony Ericsson> Email Settings Here you can see option to delete your current account. After deleting enter your new address and setup the account.
Thanks a lot Er.Kannan,
I have delete my hotmail account on my X10 with success.
Unfortunately, after half a hour trying... I can't make my Yahoo account working...
Do you know why ???
I made Hotmail account working in 5 seconds...!
I am not sure on how to setup yahoo account. You please visit sites of yahoo that may give you help on setting up an account on phone. Meanwhile let me also have a look into it.
Hello friend I got this from another forum. I am not sure on whether it will work.
Set up your Yahoo account via IMAP following the next steps:
- Go to mail icon
- Add account
- Enter email address in email address filed (name@yahoo.com)
- Enter password at password field
- Select MANUAL SETUP not next
- Select IMAP
* username= name@yahoo.com
* password = yourpassword
* IMAP server= imap.mail.yahoo.com
* port = 143
* security = none
* optional = blank
- Select NEXT
You will then be prompted to sign in do so.
Will then be taken to the SMPTP settings which only prompts (going form memory) you for address which is smtp.mobile.mail.yahoo.com. leave the port as is. Then select NEXT. Sign in. Name your account and that’s it.
Thank you for your research !
I tried what you plan (imap + smtp.mobile) instead of (pop + smtp) as I did before,
but it's not working...
Verification function says "parameters verification impossible"
Refresh account says "impossible to connect"
Maybe I forgot to tell you a important point:
Data transfer is disable on my X10, because I don't have free internet connexion with 3G.
I only want to use Wifi...
Maybe you will tell me it's not compatible with "Email" app ?
Maybe my only solution is to go on the Webmail using the Wifi browser ?
Thank you again for your help !
I'm waiting for your "precious" advises !!!
I too had similar experiences when I tried to set up a gmail account using wifi. I think the initial activation needs you to allow data traffic. Once I setup the account I was able to use it with wifi also. If its possible try to configure it by enabling data traffic.
Thanks for the idea...
I tried and it didn't change anything.
Note that my test with hotmail account succeeded even if transfer data was disabled...
Unfortunately, I think I've just find the answer concerning wifi :
"(...) there is a way to get your Yahoo Email via IMAP when you are connected wireless. This Solution will not work with WIFI (...)"
You can read this here: https://motorola-global-portal.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/38595
Here is my personal conclusion:
1) Impossible to use Yahoo IMAP account via wifi
2) Best wifi use on mobile browser is: http://m.yahoo.com (then click on "mail" in the right up corner, enter and save your login/pwd, then make the page favorite)
This will be my "rules" for yahoo on my X10, until someone find something new !
I have done exactly the same as you - set up my yahoo email address on m.yahoo.com and access my yahoo email from there. I fiddled for ages trying to add my yahoo email to the in-built email app, but gave up. If I ever find away of doing it, I'll post it on here, but I think I read somewhere something about certain free email accounts not being compatible with the standard email app.
OK..folks here is what I did ( Thanks Er Kannan) and it worked fine.
Make sure your WIFI is turned off.
Go to mail icon
- Add account
- Enter email address (name@yahoo.com)
- Enter password
- Select MANUAL SETUP not next
- Select IMAP
* username= name@yahoo.com
* password = yourpassword
* IMAP server= imap.mail.yahoo.com
* port = 143
* security = none
* optional = blank
- Select NEXT
in Out going server settings enter
smtp.mail.yahoo.com
and leave every thing as it is....
Then select NEXT. Sign in. Name your account and that’s it.
