Wifi password 'connect' button greyed out

Hi, I have a new Xperia Ray and I'm trying to access a wifi network. My phone has found the available networks, but when I try to connect to the one I want, it will let me enter a password, but the 'Connect' option remains greyed out. The only option I have is 'Cancel'.

Do I need to adjust a setting somewhere to enable me to connect to wifi?

Thanks.

In this situation, I can advise that the connect button will only become available when you have met the required amount of characters. This means the password is short.

Thanks Jake - amazingly quick response.

So this means I'm unable to connect to any networks that have passwords less than 8 characters???! That seems strange?!

Sorry, I just found out I had the wrong password. No wonder. I assume they HAVE to be 8 characters. Thanks for your help anyway, your answer prompted me to figure it out.

No problem at all, I hope all is going well.

Yes thanks, although 3G data traffic enables itself. I keep having to manually turn it off (by unchecking 'Data enabled'), which is annoying. What would be triggering it back on all the time? I want to use wifi when available and only expensive 3G data when no wifi is available.
