Hi all,
Bit of a stuff up here - during the update process through PC Companion, update failed at around 50% and now the phone will not switch on.
Phone: unlocked, unbranded, Xperia active st17a
Mobile carrier: Vodafone Australia
OS: Windows 7 Ultimate SP1
Updating to: 4.0.2.A.0.42

what happen when you connect your phone to the charger? does the LED turn on? if it doesnt, try a new micro USB cable if possible another battery
The phone acts normal when it comes to charging (from red when charging, to green when fully charged), it also connects to the computer (volume down + usb insertion) normally. But still it won't turn on, and when I connect it to the computer without the volume down button pressed it connects/disconnects randomly.
Ran the "update" through PC Companion just to try one more time. The three red flashes does not appear anymore, now I'm back to where I started. Vibrate and then nothing.
maybe the LCD screen is dead, I would use SEUS if I were you, its the same as PCC but just to make sure that the repair goes thru

I used SEUS to update the phone software even twice, but the problem remains the same - blank screen.
Is it really a hardware problem?

I have the exact same problem with my Xperia Active ST17i.
But, the answer marked as correct – “Correct Answer by gwhispererz on Jan 30, 2012 3:24 PM” in reality doesn’t resolve the issue!
I successfully applied last update, by using even Update Service 2.12.5.57 (!), but it doesn't solve a problem….
The phone still charging (at least the battery indicator light changes from red to green) and do the same vibrating, but the screen doesn’t lighting up at all while pushing the power button…
Can somebody HELP, I logged a calls in Sony Erickson support RU, UK and US (X-Ticket: 92807043,2 & 92807183,2 and the reference number is 1-208585049 [THREAD ID: 1-3G6P98]. )
But, it looks like they just ignore my recourse…
Please don’t send me to service center,
I live in Kazakhstan and here you could see WHOLE COUNTRY left without Sony Erickson support
and only you could help me!

The phone looks as great, but very raw solution, but, I’m still intend to use it…
Hi Geimuse, I believe your issue could be different, possibly a hardware issue since Software Repair didn't work. Unfortunately you can't do anything if it is a hardware issue.
I guess you have no choice but to send phone to Service Centre for repair.
Can anyone help me, i have a problem when upgrade my xperia active ST17i too.First, when i upgrade to 4.0.2.A.0.42 it's say failed and my phone cannot turn on for a moment..but after a while, i can turn on again and my phone already upgrade to 4.0.2.A.0.42.I found the problem with this new upgrade, my sd card full size when before just have half full..my wifi have trouble connection too...after that i try software from gwhispererz at first post and re-install it...but it's failed again and i dont know how to fix it...help me pls,and sorry for the long post.
