Updated U to ICS and now will not connect to chip and pin machine

Hi,

I posted earlier but am now unsure whether reverting to Gingerbread will resolve my problem.

I primarily use my Xperia U to connect via Bluetooth to me chip and pin machine in our shop.  It worked fine on Gingerbread, however yesterday I upgraded, via the Sony website, to ICS and now it will not connect to the chip and pin.

It will pair with the C & P but when making a sale the bluetooth connection will not be made and I get a '4004 connection failed' message on the phone.

It is not the C & P machine as I tried another Android phone and it worked fine.

This is a bit out of the ordinary but has anyone any ideas how it might be solved?

Alright. So if I understand you correctly, you can't transfer photos from the BB to the Xperia U? Then there might, just as you say, be something related to bluetooth in the phone if it doesn't accept any kind of data transfers.

I doubt the Liveware app is interfering with this, as long as you haven't made any macro in it to do something when the C&P (tries to) connect to the phone.

Do you know anyone else who has a Sony phone with ICS? Could be an idea to try and see if they work as they should.

Also, since you tried an update there isn't much else you can do by yourself - you should contact your retailer and ask them to send in the phone to a repair center if the bluetooth isn't working as it should in the phone.

Just to mention I have done a factory reset and settings reset and this has made no difference.

Well, it's very hard to say if this is an issue of compatibility (the chip and pin device might not be compatible with Xperia U on ICS) or some fault in the phone. Does the C&P device connect to use the network of the phone to access internet? Are they connected/paired at all time or just when you make the sale?

I've spoken to the bank and they have other users on ICS and it has not been an issue.

I've also tried to upload some photo's via Bluetooth via a Blackberry and they will not load either.  It appears that the fault is with the phone not accepting any bluetooth data.

The C&P connects as you say and I've paired them as needed, could the Liveware App be an issue as it keeps trying to open when I try to send or recieve through Bluetooth.

I've been onto the Sony website to repair the phone and that makes no difference.

Any further thoughts?

Hi Samuel,

I have spoken to my retailer and they are going to exchange the phone and I'll go back to Gingerbread.

Sony help line offered some help but nothing made any difference.
