Update 4.0.2.A.0.62 proposed to a mobile with that version already

Hi guys,

I just received a notification to update my Xperia Pro to version 4.0.2.A.0.62, which is the version I am currently running. What should I do? Have you fired this notification today (March 15th) by mistake or you just forgot to change the number version? 🙂

Please, do not hesitate to demand me further information if needed.

Best,

Alejandro

build number 0.62 is difficult to root.. when we root it we need to change to an old kernel version,,,

if we don't change to an old kernel version , our update center will keep notifying us to update our mobile even if we are on the latest software

but if your device is not rooted, then keep going, it must be some error

go to settings> applications> manage applications > all > update center > clear data
it will remove the notification,

It could be a mistake in the network. These messages are pushed out to devices that doesn't have the update and it seems you got it by mistake.

Try to connect the phone to PC Companion with the USB cable. It will let you know if there really is a new update or not available.

Thank you very much for your kind assistance. Is there any workaround not involving the use of Windows or Mac OS? I am a Linux user, therefore I cannot use PC Companion in my computer.

Unfortuantely not. It's either PC Companion for PC, Bridge for Mac for Mac (quite obvious so far, right? :smileyhappy:) or FOTA (firmware over the air) in your phone.

There's no Linux version of these available.

I see. Ok, I will have to find a Windows or Mac machine in order to try it.

In the case that PC Companion says my firmware is up to date. What should I do? Will the notification disappear after that? If I run the update anyway (just to remove the notification), could it cause any harm?

I'm also Linux User, so I am also unable to use PC Companion Slightly_frowning_Face

Just a thought, you could install Oracle's VirtualBox https://www.virtualbox.org/

You could use this to install a Windows VM, not ideal, but i've done similar with Windows Only devices.

I mean if Sony can produce a Mac version, it can not be a far stretch to compile a Linux one! Come on guys, so many of us use Linux now, it must be worth looking into.

one question
is your device rooted ?

Thank you for the suggestion Leona. (Un)fortunatelly I have no Windows Licence nor willing to buy one just to use one single software.

On the other hand, I support your demand. Specially because Android is a Linux after all, so I do not understand how there is no support for Linux.

No, it is not. What could I do better in such a case?
