Each and every text message my Xperia S recieves is read out (auto-voice). I would like to turn this off. If you know how to do this, please let me know - thank you.
Sony were unable to assist - even a phone reset didn't assist in stopping this.

I'm using the pre-set one on the Xperia S... symbol is a quote tag with a colon and bracket (ie smiley) in it.
ps... thanks for persisting
do you have an app called car mode or a variant of it?

perhaps you need to uninstall pico
Settings > language & input > text-to-speech > is pico there? if it is then
settings > apps > all > look for it an uninstall it

Preferred engine is Pico TTS.
Pico / Pico TTS isn't showing as an app.
Text to speech won't let me switch this off

no - basic pre-installed apps plus two others which I loaded. Neither of these (a shopping list and equine education) w/should interfer with text-to-speech setting
