Suddenly not compatible for Google Search

Hi,

I noticed that my Google Search App suddenly disappeared from my Sony Xperia S. When I looked it up in the play store, I receive the message that the app is disabled because it is not compatible with my telephone. This is weird, since I also did not perform any upgrades. I also performed a virus scan, but no threatss were detected.  Does anyone has an idea on how to fix this? Thanks in advance. Kind regards,

Faar

you don't need any taskiller nor antivirus

try this

settings > apps > all > play store > uninstall updates and clear everything

Hi uliwooly,

I followed your steps, but it didn't help. It's not even possible for me to uninstall Google Search from my device, since it is also not listed in the list with apps (in the device settings).

Also, I already have Google Play version 3.9.16.

that's quite odd, have you disabled any app?

No I didn't. Although, I do have to say: my device crashed earlier today. It was not responding for a few minutes, after that it worked again.

But I think I discovered the problem: in the play store is indicated that you should have android 4.1. And I still have 4.0. Although, then I should not be the only one with this problem...

This effectively means resetting your device to the default settings. I've done that, and afer that I was able to work with Google Search again. Although, I had to back-up all my data and right now I'm busy with getting my device in the desired shape. Have to get all my e-mail accounts, calendar syncronizations, etc. up.

Anyway, thanks for your efforts. I wish there was a better solution which didn't require a reset.

I wonder if it's another app acting up (taskiller or antivirus)

That is a little odd, it may be worth running an update or repair to minimise the chance of this happening again.
