Sony Ericsson defective pixel policy

Hello,

I've spotted a defective pixel (bright white very small dot) on my 2 weeks old Xperia Ray. I've searched for Sony Ericsson's defective pixel policy on smartphones but couldn't find any info on it. So, this is my first question, what is SE policy on defective pixels?

The second question is, are there any ways of fixing this without changing the phone? Is this considered a stuck or a dead pixel?

Thank you!

Ah, Romania.

I checked the warranty information on the Romanian website and this is what goes for your phone:

"There may be tiny bright or dark dots on the

display. These are called defective pixels and occur when

individual dots have malfunctioned and can not be adjusted. Two

defective pixels are deemed acceptable."

Up to 2 defective pixels is considered acceptable and therefore not covered by the warranty.

The warranty terms does not necessarily look the same on all markets and the part about broken pixels are one thing that can differ. Give the local support team a call and ask them about this.

They will know what goes for your market and your phone.

Yeah sorry, should of mentioned that this is what is stated in the warranty for my W995 (generic/uncustomised version) bought in the UK.

Thank you both for your answers.

I was expecting to be directed towards the local support team. To be quite frank with you, the local support here in Romania is really bad. Had some troubles with my previous phone, an Xperia x10 Mini, and was very disappointed with the local support. I also contacted them two months ago, asking them for support on finding a local Sony Ericsson dealer were I could test the new models and again was very disappointed. This is why I preferred to use the forum this time.

But I will follow your advice, write to them, and maybe even post their answer here, original and translation.

From what I've read, there is an International ISO standard for LCD screen pixel faults. If Sony Ericsson considers two defective pixels as acceptable on their screens, that would make the screens Class 2.

So, does anyone know what Class is the Sony Ericsson display used on the Xperia Ray according to the international ISO standard?

"Ah, Romania." says a lot. Smiling_Face_with_open_mouth_&_closed_Eyes

Thank you for the info. Things are clear now.

Acording to the document above the Sony Ericsson displays are  Class 2 (international ISO standard).

Hehe, I did not mean it like that.

It was more like "aha, now I know your country!". Slightly_smiling_Face

I know you didn't, but it was funny in the context.

Well, as you know, I've wrote to the local support team exactly 10 days ago. Still waiting for an  answer. I've also wrote them again today, few minutes ago. Of course I already know the answer, but I just want to show you guys that I wasn't complaining about them for no reason.
