Restoring a previous Clockworkmod Backup

Hey guys!

I have a rooted Xperia Arc (LT15i). I have left the bootloader untouched.

I wish to restore a backup that I created a few months back using clockworkmod recovery.

In some of the YouTube videos, I've seen that people first format "Data", followed by the "Dalvik Cache" & then restore.

Is this required to be done, or will it work even if I simply, directly restore from the bootloader screen?

My father is interested in taking my phone, so I want to hand it over to him in the original form.

Please advice. I cannot take a risk here.

Thanks in advance for your help!

If you want your xperia to become like it originally was then simply reinstall the software in your phone using Sony Update Service.

Anyways for the Clockword mod, directly restore the phone. You don't have to do any other anything.

Thanks for the quick response, Nabeel!

Reinstalling with Sony Update Service seems to be the better option, but what exactly will it do?

(1) Will my phone be wiped clean, including the SD card, my contacts, my gmail accounts?

(2) I made some changes to the status bar icons (battery, signal, wifi, etc.). Will they also be restored to their originals?

(3) Will it unroot my device?

Reinstalling with SUS would bring back your phone to stock condition. Same as you got it out of the box.

1) it would wipe all except SD card.

2) Yes, all would be restored to original.

3) Correct

Thanks Nabeel!

Just a quick question - I'm gonna reinstall the software today. This involves no risk whatsoever, right? (Bearing in mind that my device is rooted)

I do not care about it being unrooted by the procedure.

I have to choose to repair my phone, right?

Reinstalling is totally safe no matter your device is rooted.

Yes to repair / reinstall the phone's software.

Nabeel, another question -

I spoke with my father today. He said that he would like to keep the root.

So, I was thinking of doing a Factory Reset.

Is Factory Resetting my rooted device safe?

Nopes, factory data reset sometimes results in brick. ( on a rooted phone with mods installed)

You can root your phone again after reinstalling with SUS Slightly_smiling_Face

That would be a fresh new start

Here is how to root .587 , if you need it

Ok, just reinstalled the software with SUS.

All went smooth as butter.

Thank you so much for your help!
