Reset to factory settings protects from hacking?

Hello,

My Xperia Mini Pro is having a bizarre behavior, I think somebody has hacked it. I want to reset the phone to the most clean, simple settings, erasing android os, all apps, information, configuration, etc. In fact I want to know how to format the phone and delete all possible infection from all possible places in the phone, including in the android os, where information could be stored or the hacker could have set up his software, backdoor, etc.

(a) Is there an equivalent action to formatting the phone disk to the last bit and reinstalling android os? Will this erase any software installed by the hacker? How to I do it?

(b) I purchased the phone and obviously it came installed with several apps. If I 'format' the phone to erase everything in it to the last bit, how do I reinstall the original factory apps with the original android os so as to have the phone as I have purchased it?

Thank you for your advice

Format your SD card and the run a software reinstall using SUS. That will erase all data ever put in by any user.
