If I change the firmware of my device, automatically changes the SI number and pass receiving updates from that country??
Solved! Go to Solution.
Yes if you flashed say Swiss firmware then PCC will now see your phone as having Swiss firmware and update you with Swiss roms as and when they appear - But your SI number has no bearing on your Firmware - Your firmware has different numbers this is called a Customization number and this is what PCC reads - If you want to know your Customization number then dial *#*#7478423#*#* then go to Service info then Software info then on the list you'll see Customization Version
I'd like to know this as well, I orginally bought my phone SIM free in France, but flashed the Swiss Generic ROM at a later date, does the PCC now see my handset as Swiss for Firmware updates?
Exactly! That is my question!
I bought a Brazilian Xperia S, but takes too long to receive Brazilian updates, so I wonder if I put a Generic World firmware somehow change my SI and I shall receive these updates faster!

Thanks thats what I thought, I had already look at my customisation number under the service menu, I guess the only way to go back to the French ROM is to flash the generic French ICS ROM if I can find it over on the XDA forums, I have a copy of the Gingerbread French Generic ROM but not ICS.
If I do a repair using the PCC software will that just repair the Swiss ROM i suppose?
Yes it will
The only French Generic I can find is below
[FIRMWARE][6.0.A.3.73] France generic
This means that if I put the firmware World Generic receive updates much faster than the Brazilian firmware?
Yeah I believe looking at the number that is a GB ROM?I guess I could flash it and then do all the ICS updates afterwards, correct?
World Generic just means that it has many languages built in to choose from - Example you bought in the UK but only speak German or French then you can change the language
If you want to check which firmware you have then as above find your customization number and check against this list
File System Version:
WORLD_6.1.A.0.452
Custumization Version:

Is Generic World inside ??
