says Video playback, supported formats: 3GPP, MP4, Matroska, AVI

but the problem is that my xperia go is not able to play .avi and .mkv files. it just says that video cannot be played?? why is that?

i recorded a family video with my fujifilm digicam. i transferred the .avi file to my phone but my phone was nt able to play it. also it was nt able to play the 700MB .avi movie file and the same goes for .mkv files (Matroska).

do i need to install additional softwares? can't the pre-installed default video player in my phone support these file extensions?

btw i had no problem playing .mp4 video files....and i didn't try any 3gpp files!! hoping someone can help me with my problem...!! thanks in advance...
