Hi!
I have a question for SONY:
As you know, you offer us the posibility to unlock the bootloader, wich is cool, but i don't need to change the firmware.
Has sony considered de posibility of giving us, (even if the warranty is voided), the possibility of having root access to the phone?
A lot of us like to have the official firmware installed, but we need root access for some apps to have better control of what we can do with the phone (for example, to use a dedicated firewall).
Thanks in advance for your time.

You can follow the steps on this website. It is for Xperia mini pro SK17i
He doesn't want to unlock the bootloader.
He said he has no problems with voiding the warranty, so he can try that
Anyways as I have learnt so far almost everything can be reversed
It is a interesting sharing.........
First of all, you are free to discuss (almost) anything here.
As you already mentioned we do offer some help with unlocking the boot loader but no instructions on how to get root access. I know XDA developers have a forum filled with good assistance on this matter (which I'm also sure you already knew).
I have no information saying we will provide this information and since it would void the warranty anyway I see no harm in going with the XDA tips on this.
As long as you know the risks and accept that your warranty probably will be voided you are free to do whatever you want with your phone.
I personally have very little experience from rooting and installing custom roms etc. so I often suggest XDA as a good way to start when looking for help with things like this.
Mmm those rom's they provide are not for my model. I don't want to risk to brick it.
First of all, thanks everybody for your help.
The update to ICS is coming. I think i can wait 1 month more and then see if there is someone in XDA that is able to root it.
If not, i think i will take the risk and do what DeGraaf told me, with the wotanclient, as it seems the better (and secure, for me) way to do it.
I really miss having DroidWall, Adfree, Titanium Backup, SU, Tasker, BusyBox, RomManager (to make backups of the FULL rom), QuickBoot, and BatteryCalibration to name a few. I only want to have root access to have those apps installed with full functionality.
I can tell you this: the downgrade-and-root-and-re-upgrade-over-the-air method is not a risk at all as Wotan client uses unmodified, official firmware packages. And best of all, it doesn't require you to unlock your bootloader (which causes the irreversible change of losing your DRM keys, which causes certain features and apps to stop working, such as TrackID and any other app that needs DRM keys to function.)
That's Right!
Also, what you tell me is another reason of WHY i do not want to unlock my bootloader: i don't want to lose my drm keys, and i don't want to lose the OTA updates, for example, to ICS.
Exactly. Anyway, keep in mind that if you decide to use this method, you should only remove any stock apps or make root-requiring modifications after you re-upgraded to 0.62 OTA. Otherwise the OTA upgrade has a chance of failing.
