Hi, I recently got Sony Xperia S. I am completely new to Sony and Android. I was previously using iPhone 4. I was not so happy with it for its so many limitations. OK, coming to Xperia S, first of all I wanted to know is, can I use more than 1 PC (Media Go) to sync my phone, or should I use only one PC (as I was doing for iTunes)?
Initially I connected my phone to my PC at home and got contacts and media synced. But after 2 weeks when i connect the phone to the same PC, it was not recognizing my phone connection. I tried all suggestions but of no luck. So finally I got to repair my phone. I lost all contacts and data, so I have sync them back from my phone again. And now when I connect to the same PC, it is working fine, but when I connect to my PC in the office, it is again not recognizing the phone. If I repair, again I am going to lose everything. Please suggest me step-by-step process to sync and use my Xperis S. Thank you very much in advance

Yes you can use as many computers as you wish this will not impact the functionality at all. Regarding the connectivity issue, as it appears you are only getting this on a work PC it is more likely and issue with the PC itself. You may want to try another USB port or contact the system administrator as they may have security restrictions on outside USB devices.

Im having the same issue and am getting frustrated... bought the phone 3 weeks ago. have been on the net looking for a solution. tried all suggestions...with no luck. last phone was an xperia x10 which still connects with no problem. before that phone had sony ericssons with no problem connecting and transferring data. now this device (xperia s) is not very useful to me. cannot connect to pc companion, says there is a connection error. phone is not even visable in my computer. and the times it has been, says to connect it when i try opening the internal memory on my pc. properties say 0kb memory, none used and none available. Im running vista version 6.0 service pack 2.
My service provider says its my pc, windows says its my phone, sony says its my pc, HP says its my phone...WTF? can someone actually pull their finger out and give a proven solution or explaination please??
Works fine on my parents win7 pc. surely there is a solution to this?
And if not, then trading from sony to something else will be the next step.
Thank goodness for a 30 trade warranty!
Do you have any third party software for connecting third party USB devices like cameras or other phones installed on your PC?

Ok, now i got the point... 3rd party software huh! coz i got some problems like this and i got installed some image editing software that detects cameras or cards when get connected to the PC automaticaly so i will try to remove them and try to connect my phone again.......hell i use to change rom alomst every week and never got any problem like this for 2 years. Tnx for the hint @Sam.
I have a Sony Xperia P and an Acer PC running Windows 7 64-bit Home Premium. I've had the same agonizing problem with Sony PC Companion not recognizing my phone, but have finally come across a solution. I had downloaded the newest version of PC Companion but still no luck, and it was very unlikely to be a hardware problem since the USB ports and USB cable are OK. Then I tried Troubleshoot Compatibility, which is found by right clicking on the desktop icon for Sony PC Companion. The system suggested Windows XP Service Pack 2 compatibility, so I accepted that, ran the program again and connected the phone. Worked like a charm, was able to access everything on the phone! Try this, it may work for you and others too. It seems like the problem may lie with the PC Companion software.
