No driver for Xperia arc

No driver for Xperia arc

I am trying to pair my new xperia arc with my Windows 7 computer. The phone shows in the devices and printers window but with an exclamation mark beside it. When I choose the troubleshooting option I am informed that the device driver can not be found. I have tried to update the driver but get the same message. Looking at the Sony Errikson site, I can not find a driver to download. Has anyone else had this problem and could offer advice for which I would be very grateful.

Thanks

Sooti

don't give up just yet, on your PC create a new Administrator account, open it, install both PCC and Update Service, does it work now?

Try installing the PC Companion, it will install the necessary drivers to your computer. Here is the link for it http://www.sonyericsson.com/cws/support/mobilephones/downloads/subject/pccompanion/xperia-arc-s?cc=g...

Thanks for your reply. I have done what you suggested and installed PC Companion. Unfortunately, it doesn't seem to have cured the problem. Do I need to have the phone connected when I try to install the drivers? I will return to it tomorrow and see if I have more luck. Thanks

Once you have downloaded PC Companion, the first time you use the programme and connect your phone it should install the drivers.  Let us know how you get on tomorrow.

Thanks for your reply. Have managed to find time to try it out tonight but sadly no luck. I connected the phone via USB and briefly saw a message saying the driver was being installed before a window appeared for a phone update. After updating the phone's software the phone still appeared under Devices and Printers with the exclamation mark beside it. Troubleshooting produced the same results.

Any further ideas, please?

Thanks

I've installed the update service as suggested but still not able to install the device driver.

I think it's time to admit defeat and when I need to connect to the computer by bluetooth to download a photo I can still do this but it just takes longer. Otherwise I can transfer photos to the computer by connecting by USB which is quicker. Thanks for all the help anyway.
