No 3G icon on xperia active

Hi! Can someone please help me on what to do to activate 3g on my active? I used wcdma preferred/gsm but there is still no icon that I am on 3g. I turned off the data traffic btw. My network provider said that I have already activated 3g/mms/gprs on my phone. Please help me!

if your data it's off you are not going to see the 3G icon.

There is no 3g icon but a H icon is present. What does it mean? When I switched to gsm only a G icon is present.

H = 3.5G

3G = 3G

E = Edge = 2G
