My sony ericcson freezes when i receive a call

Everytime i recieve or make a call on my phone, the phone screen goes blank. i can answer the call but i cant end it as there is no screen. after the call has finished the phone freezes and the only way to restart the phone is to take out the battery.

can anyone help me with a solution?

PS i have done reset, master reset and updated the phone to the newest software available and i have only had the phone a few days.

Do you use any phone covering or casing which is blocking the proximity sensor....??

yes i have the original casing on there which comes on the phone

I didn't mean the changeable battery covers...I mean casing...like to protect you're phone....a outer covering which might be blocking you're proximity sensor....

yes sorry thats what i meant. the casing which protects the phone has been on there since last wednesday

So you bought it externally and using it...I think you're aware of the proximity sensor which is placed beside the ambient light sensor on the top of you're screen.... The proximity sensor helps you're phone to lock itself while calling so that nothing is pressed..unintentionally...when you put you're phone close to you're ears...with the proximity sensor helps to recognizes the proximity of you're ears...and lock...so that nothing is pressed....I mean the options in the screen.....so if it is guarded due to the phone covering it malfunctions...

So try this...

Take out the cover then try calling from other numbers...and see if the screen freezes after ending the call ... Let me know...;-)

i took of the screen casing and rang the phone twice and it seems to be working now.

thankyou for telling me that.

do u think it would still work if i put on a screen protector which is different to the one that comes on the phone?

Glad to hear it's working...

Yes..it should work...just make sure you use a good quality protector....

And for info.....xperia ray is equipped with a scratch resistant display...not hard like gorilla glass..but it's is good..I personally use xperia mini it is also having the scratch resistant display...frankly speaking..I'm satisfied..with it...but a protector would be a safe play...now it's all upto you to decide...:p
