My phone number is "Unknown" in status, Why?

My Xperia S won't show My phone number as "Unknown" in Setting >> About Phone >> Status >> My Phone Number.

I would like to know why and how to set it to show my own phone number?

My wife iPhone 4s show her phone number as usual and we use the Micro Sim from same operator in Thailand.

Anyone could help me out from this, please.

Sorry but all these threads point to X10 threads. Is the sim size different on that ?

The sim in my SXS is a micro/mini sim it won't fit in any of my old phones ?

Okh then its grate.... you are left with no other option but to buy a new sim card :smileyhappy:, first enter it in old mobile, edit your number, resize your sim card and put it in xperia s

Why are you worried ?

You found anything strange, ? Anguished_Face

but the thing is android doesn't have the ability to edit this number , it could only be done in non android "old mobile" and you can't put it in old mobile as your sim is micro sim,,,

If you want to see your number, buy another sim, edit before resizing, get it resized and put in xperia

what you found strange in it ?

Why didn't you say this ?

I might be wrong but it sounded like you were encouraging people to start cutting there sim cards up to fit the slot !!

Apologies if I've misunderstood.

interesting, but i am unsure the answers given are totally accurate.

I have a new voda sim that shows the same problem as you, but what makes me question the answers given is I also have new three and t mobile sims that both show the number.

all sims are new only ever been in the xps so I had assumed it was a network carrier issue

Yes, it works.  I just put microsim adaptor and put my sim in my old Samsung SGH-900.  Edit my first of five empty slots of Own Phone Number list, then put it back in my Xperia S and pressto.

Thank a lot for your help.

I am in doubt that it depends on mobile operators.  Some already put the owner phone number in the sim card, but some do not.

In case of my wife's iPhone it may be the ability of IOS itself.  Since my wife and I use the same operator.
