Mobile BRAVIA Engine NOT Working on any ICS.

Bought Xperia Acro S today. It was a very good phone, well satisfied with it. Not until I installed Quickpic (3rd party picture viewer). And to my surprise, the pics from the Album app and Quickpic are exactly the same in terms of color saturation, noise and contrast! WHY is that SONY?

I have had Xperia ARC and RAY for a year or so, then sold the ARC because of the "CRACK" near the sensor. Got Samsung GSII with a horrible screen which I dont wanna look at, then sold it after 3 days and made me go back to SONY. But til this time after reading several comments, a lot of people noticed that the mBE is not working and Sony is not giving any CLEAR answer or solution for the issue.

I had about 20 SE phones and this is the first real Sony phone I have, please don't disappoint me. Any moderator or Sony Exec, please give me a reasonable answer for this query.

A software repair is not the answer here [is it ever?]

On XDA people have flashed several times from GB with a working BE to ICS where BE does not work then back to GB again and hey BE works.  You cannot suggest that the firmware fails to install correctly every single time it's flashed onto the phone.

When you enable/disable MBE I have noticed that you need to close the album application properly before the changes take effect. So if you enable MBE try force closing the album app and start it again to check if the MBE have been enabled. Keep me updated.

It doesn't work this way too. It doesn't work after a reset as well. Me (and many others) have tried it many times.  By the way, properly closing the gallery was never needed in the GB app. The engine worked instantly whenever it was activated..

If you take a look at XDA developers you wouldn't be asking those questions Johan.  And on my phone I don't need to close the album app in order for the MBE changes to take effect...

Enable MBE, take a screenshot of a picture, close the app, disable MBE, do the same, and the results are shown on XDA.

Hello Johan!

You might know that those of us who are having this issue, it is only limited to photo/picture viewing only on Xperia S/Acro S on ICS. Which means that Bravia Engine is working fine while watching Videos/Movies. That being said, all your given suggestions don't work for me or any other here with this issue. I have done a software repair using SUS, also did a factory reset, but to no use. Used flashtool to flash GB rom & BE works fine for both photos & videos, like it should! Now, back to latest ICS updated using SUS, and again the BE doesn't work for photos using album app :smileysad:!

Now, please raise this issue to sony developers, or at least provide us some working solution! And also let us know if this issue has anything to do with unlocking the bootloader in the past.

hi there johan,

as the one who created this post two days after buying a $600.00 worth phone, please give us more technical and sensible answers. no hard feelings but what you are telling us is for a guy who just had his first android phone. who doesnt even know what an APK file is.

if you can't answer the question or give us any solution, have someone from Sony with a higher authority or knowledge about resolving the issue.

i will not stop posting anywhere even on facebook and on xperiablog till I get a solution on this. as i have said before, BRAVIA ENGINE is the MAIN REASON why I SOLD MY 5 day old Samsung GALAXY SII despite being cheap and more powerful (cpu, gpu, and software suppor) than Xperia ACRO S.

so please. please...

give us a fix!

I can understand you guys and that you're eager for answer. And your replies here helps both me and our developers to investigate this. I promise that I will get back to you guys as soon as I hear from our developers.

johan,

does it take three days for those developers to give answers? dont you guys makes some test all through out before releasing an update?

well i have read some of SONY's documentation about releasing updates. are your developers blind or color blind?

we made the test on our own in less than 2 hours. flashing, checking, unlocking, relocking, going back to GB, upgrading to ICS.

i am starting to lose respect for the company i admired since i was a kid!

for the record, i have had, DREAM MACHINE ICF-XXX. 32GB MICROVAULT USB. NWZ-A805 WALKMAN both black and white. MDR EX85, EX60LP, EX55, and EX310. FONTOPIA RE829V, RE10LP. PSone. PS2. PS2 Slim. PSP3000(2), 1000,and GO. Memory Stick Pro HX and HG(5). M2 Micro. DSC W300. DSC T700. TRINITRON, 18" PC LCD Monitor. DAV-HDX25 5.1CH HomeTheater. MHC GNV99 Hi-Fi Component Sytem. Sony Ericson, T290. P910. K750 (2). S700. W900. K800 Bond Edition (2). AINO. X10mini. X10 (2). NEO. RAY. ARC. ACRO S. And even ACCUCORE DVD and LCD Lens Cleaner.

i guess with everything I have paid to buy all this items from SONY. I and WE deserve a SIMPLE FIX! I bet Johan, you are not even familiar with some of these devices I bought from the company you work with!

A little respect from a die hard fan is all I am asking. Get this FIXED ASAP!

I did some testing.

I toggled BE on/off and see difference in colors.

I made screenshot from photo in album with BE on and off and see clearly a difference when viewing with BE off.

I made screenshot from photo in album with BE on and off and see clearly a difference when viewing with BE on.

So it look fine to me and I don't know what exactly your problem is. I know BE only works on your phone and not when exporting to PC or TV.
