Lots of problems trying to update to 4.0.2.A.0.62

Hey all.

Using SE Xperia Pro. Tried to update w/ Win 7 64 bit.

First Sony PC Companion wouldn't upgrade to newest version. I eventually got the new one, V. 2.10.027 (the blue windows shortcut icons, not the old green ones). When I attempt to upgrade the phone I get the dreaded "close wininit.exe" error. Nothing seems to resolve this.

I'd really love to update the phone, recently (last 2 days) it's going crazy giving me the "you've got a text message" alert sound whenever it now attempts to connect to my home network server, you know, despite me triyng to always keep WiFi turned off.

update your phone with this

SUS ( Sony Update Service)  ... download and install it on pc and follow the on-screen instructions

Thank you for the quick reply! This update service seems to be for the AINO (a phone which I no longer use). Is this the same program to use for the newer SE phones too?
