Android doesn't have the same phonebook layout as the P1i with Symbian OS. In the standard contact app there are no fields to add birthday etc, but you can link the contact to a facebook contact and get the info. If you don't want to use facebook you can search market for another contact app with this possibility.

Maybe someone here has a tip on a good app?

Unfortunately I cannot come up with anything, so hopefully some other users that are more active on the Play Store here can help.

Strange enough that all Google Nexus (which is pure Android), Samsung, HTC, LG did manage to keep birthdays in contacts, all of a sudden Sony has different Android which has no place for birthdays.  This actually is not entirely true!

Some facts -  if you would migrate contacts from device which has this field under events, then with 3rd party viewer on Xperias you will see birthdays.  Well…. and if you would that  exported contact with birthday send from native contact book as vcf, then it will contain nicely formatted birthday.

So, which mean to me -  Xperia has birthday field under the hood , but somebody forget to develop one extra field in contact book for viewing and editing that.

And as you may know, there are no such thing as 3rd party contact apps which can “live” parallel with native. There are only “skins”, which at the end will try to enter contact using native contact book functionality. So, if you forget to expose birthday, then there will be no way to enter /modify it, unless to export as i describe above.

Dear Samuel, please talk to your developers before you give answers. And I would appreciate if you would raise some trouble ticket to your developers about it.

Very well, I'm not very familiar with anything else but Sony/Sony Ericsson phones, but I'm sure you are right.

I will forward this internally!

Hello dear...

One week before I bought Xperia U and faced the same problem with adding Birthday field.

I got a solution to it too. Here it is...

Install the "Contact Editor Free" app available on Play Store.

Now, whenever you try to edit / add a contact, it will ask you to choose the editor.

Choose Edit Contact App Button to edit detailed information including Birthday / Anniversary.

Happy Googling....!! Slightly_smiling_Face

Hi!

By the way, with latest ICS (6.1.B.0.544) this birthday issue is solved. You can now accesses and edit that field with native contact app. Great job!
