Is there need to back up the phone for OS upgrade

Hi..I have an update 4.0 Android ready for neo v. Is there need to take the back up of the phone and what are the applications that are not compatible with 4.0 or that does not run with 4.0 . What else things i need to keep in mind before upgrading?? Please suggest

well first of all that is not ICS update ...its just a normal update

and 2nd .. no you dont need to backup anything for this update ... google automatically backups ur phone thez days when you update ur phone..

so go ahead    

if you must backup

Settings -> privacy -> Back up my data and Automatic restore should be selected

How to install it

You need to

go to settings -> applications -> check unknown sources

download IO File Manager

download the backup & restore app, transfer it to your SD card, use OI file manager to find it -> tap on it -> install it

just to play it safe sync your contacts w/ google if you haven't already

open your phonebook

press MENU button -> tap on Send Contacts -> select all -> send it to your email

on your computer

-> download the file -> go to your gmail -> click on contacts -> click on more actions -> on the drop down menu click on "import" -> choose the file -> and click import

Apps

Don't worry so much about backing up your apps

on your computer go to

market.android.com -> log in -> click on My Library -> and send all your apps to your phone

SMS/MMS

if you don't want to use the backup & restore app then

Install "backup SMS" to back up your SMS and MMS to your Gmail

this are methods on how to side load apps

1st Method

How to install it

You need to

go to settings -> applications -> check unknown sources

download IO File Manager

2nd method

download the apk on your computer, send it to yourself through email, make sure you send it to your Gmail

now on your phone

go to settings -> applications -> check unknown sources

wait for the email, once  you get the email, open it, and instead of downloading the attachment it will allow you to install it, voila, done

3rd Method

BOX and upload the apks from any computer

install the App on your phone -> open BOX -> tap on the app -> install it

4th Method by far the easiest

an even Easier alternative

download the app, transfer it to your SD card

Thanks for the reply... i hav 2.3.4 andriod now... I have notificatino as 4.0.2.A.0.62 new system update available. Im thinking that its Icecream sandwich upgradation.. is nt it?If it is so,I heard that some phones are troubling after upgrading to higher versions of android. Do u think its ok to update the OS now.. Please suggest.

not at all,

go to settings -> about phone -> check

the build number, as you can see you probably have

4.0.2.A.0.42  (build number)

this new update

4.0.2.A.0.62 (build number) will fix some bugs/issues

ICS won't be out until late April - early May

no idea about size.. but it will take more than an hour if u have broadband connection
