installing non-play store apps?

hi guys i have some querries,

1.

since this is my 1st smartphone i dunno about the rules & regulations of google in detail.

i read out on google help that it is illegal (infact not possible!) to download apps from play store to pc & then transfer it to phone.

so i am sort of afraid to download apps not from play store. this article says that there is no problem.

so i just want to make sure that there is no problem if i download apps from these sources onto my pc & then transfer them to my phone?

if i turn the check-mark in phone to allow installing no-market apps it shows some warning.

{ settings -> applications -> unknown sources }

so does this mean that i am terminating my warranty or something like that?

it would be helpful if staff members from Sony reply to this querry please.

2.

can i install java applications from jar files. i used to do this on my SE K750i from mobile99.com

i am asking this because i couldnt find java installed on my phone. is there any app for that or does this phone not support java?

3.

my problem regarding not being able to install from play store has not yet been answered from Sony staff !!!

see here.

please note that i am anle to login to google talk.

as all ways thankful for your replies. Slightly_smiling_Face

and BTW i hate this new tab interface for threads!

i dont know when somebody has replied in middle part of thread, because i always check the last tab of thread.

if possible please remove the tab thing & let the old interface be as it is.....

1. You can transfer .apk installation files to the phone and install them manually using a file manager if you enable unknown sources. But in regards of warranty we can't guarantee that your phone won't take damage using app's which doesn't come from Google Play Store/Android Market.

This option is mostly used by developers so they can install their work and test it.

2.

No, you can only install .apk files in the phone and I don't know if there is any app which gives you Java support in this matter.

so if i install such apps then my warranty does NOT get voided.

is this what you meant?

so even after installing these apps, if i find a fault in my phone then i can return it to sony centre for repairing/replacing?

Dont try to install apps from torrents, its should be harm your mobile.. Always try google play store.. If you want use apps from other site then you check its fast perfectly then via antivirus (for malware/spam/bugs checking)..

I am sure cerficate not void.

1.) what he meant, is that if those apps you downloaded outside google play causes damage to the phone, it will not be covered by warranty.

2.)only android apps are currently supported.

3.) yeah me too, I hate it. Slightly_smiling_Face

suppose they do some software problems, then i can do factory reset & repair the software.

so this should possibly solve the problems created by apps.

what do you think?

i wont be downloading from unknown sources but popular ones only.

currently i have the amazon app store for android on my mind.

i saw some of the same apps there as there are on play store (they are from the original developers!).

do you think the apps will behave the same irrespective of the market source?

why i am doing this is because it has been 3 weeks since i bought this phone & i havnt been able to install a single app till now....:smileycry:

i will not install any power saver / network booster / task manager / antivirus / antiblahblah, etc at all on my phone ever! This is recommended by uliwooly so will do the same without any doubt.

regarding torrents : if i had to download apps from torrent then why would i be talking about legal issues? :smileymischief:

& did i ever mention torrent at all???

non play store sources which give apps legally is what i meant.

1.) Yes, SUS/PCC can repair it.

2.) hmm, what do you mean? like same app but different developers?

3.) 3 weeks is long enough. go ahead download apps already,"you've got to risk it, to get the biscuit" Slightly_smiling_Face

I suggest you do a backup of important data, so that in case there is problem you can repair it asap. Slightly_smiling_Face
