ICS kernel version

How could it be, that kernel version in ICS from Sony not 3.xx but 2.xx ? Is it just something like "official custom" ?

this is what SONY devs said

Dahlström said that the main reason the kernel will remain unchanged is that Sony Ericsson wanted to release ICS as quickly as possible. Here’s what he had to say over at xda-developers: “It is rather quick to get a new kernel up and running, but it takes a lot of testing and validation to make it stable and run with the modem, get a good battery performance etc. Quite some effort has been put in to the Sony Ericsson 2.6.32 kernel, to make it as stable and reliable as possible for the 8255 platform, and we do not feel that the user benefit of a new kernel would justify a later release date.

It will remain unchanged for the MAIN Update to ICS or it will remain even next updates? And if it remain unchanged how could it use Android 4 features ? 512 RAM ok or not?

What really bothers me, is that Samsung has released 4.0.3 for their Galaxy S II with the new kernel 3.0.15.....   I still have to check HTC and LG but it seems that as usual Sony will be behind not just hardware wise, software wise, android version and kernel.

It's a Sony. 512 RAM not enough even for 2.3.4, so the decided to custom it a little and here we go "4.0"

ICS can run with 512MB of RAM don't worry about that, even with the old kernel

you can read about the differences here

Sony should've released better Xperias this year, they lack

Tegra 3 Quad-core processor    OR Snapdragon S4 MSM8960/MSM8960 Pro (Dual-Core)

only 1GB of RAM instead of 2GB of RAM

Gorilla Glass 2 or Dragon Trail

the lack of micro SD card

still TFT screen instead of OLED or AMOLED or Super AMOLED

the size of the phone its to big and heavy (if you compared it to other phones that have better components this doesn't make sense)

Cheap plastic instead of a better material (perhaps Carbon Fiber or Recycled carbon fiber)

The camera OVER compression still there

etc etc
