How to stop services starting on boot.

Hey,

If I root my Xperia arc s and uninstall Facebook using Titanium backup, and then reinstall it using the Play Store, will this stop it starting on boot?

Thanks.

I'll just let you know I decided to uninstall the updates for Maps and FB and then disable them both.

My phone boots very quickly now, and is super fast. I'm happy Slightly_smiling_Face

did you uninstalled Facebook Inside Xperia? if it's just the app it shouldn't unless you are syncing

Hi,

I haven't uninstalled anything, I’m just annoyed at Facebook starting and taking up ram.

I don't sync anything from it. I was just wondering if my logic was right. That is, if I uninstall it as a system app, and then reinstall it from the Play Store it becomes a user app and then will not start on boot... Is that right?

EDIT: I see what you mean. Yes, Facebook inside Xperia is disabled.

try this

settings > apps > all > look for all the facebook apps and facebook related apps tap on each and disable them

Yeah yep, that will work, but I still want to be able to open and use Facebook occasionally. (Not remove it from my app drawer)

I want full control, so that it won’t start on boot, and if I open it I can then Force close it when I’m finished.

Currently, it starts on boot, and when I force close it it just reappears.

have you consider a custom ROM? jw how do you know it starts on boot? do you have a fb widget and/or sync on?

I know because everytime I turn my phone on, the service is running. Just like Maps and Video Unilimited.

I'm under the impression that it's because those apps are system apps. Therefore, if they were user apps like my Sygic GPS, they would not start on boot. Just like how Sygic does not start on boot.

Btw, everything related to FB if off.

And when I say it starts, I mean Facebook, Maps and Video Unilimited are running services. Unlike my user apps which don't start unless I open them.

that's because that are other facebook services that you need to disable, this other services will be open by other apps and/or boot

Ok, so your saying that if I uninstalled the pre-installed system versions of FB and Maps (by rooting) and then installed them from the Play Store, they would still startup as a running service when I turn the phone on?

Disabling all FB add-ons stops it starting, but as soon as I connect to a Wifi network it starts up again! How dare it lol
