Hello SONY,
I would like to know how to properly root my phone. Please see its specs,
Xperia Pro
Android Version 2.3.4
Build Number 4.0.2.A.0.62
Kernel Version 2.6.32.9-perf SEMCUser@SEMCHost#1
Thanks a lot to anyone who can respond!

you can not root that build number, you have to downgrade to .42 or .58
here you go
How to manually update, downgrade, root 2011 Xperias
Thank uliwooly, I have a follow up question though. What happens if i dont root my xperia pro and then I reset (factory data reset) it instead. (reformat the internal memory and sd card)
Will the android version and build number be downgraded as well?
If I backup my phone data using "mybackup pro" and save it in the SD card, won't that backup and application be erased as well after the reset?
if I do a factory reset the current build number will remain, everything will be deleted but pictures, videos and music

How then will I able to restore my calendar entries, sms, and call log after reset the phone?
Will the "mybackup pro" be erased as well? and all its backed up data on the SD card?
what are you trying to backup?
Well actually, i just want to clear some space in my internal memory and sd card. But I want to keep my calendar entries, sms and call log...i installed "mybackup pro". I did not reformat my phone just yet so i'm trying to know what will happen after..
If i can do this without rooting then it might be just as good.
the more messages and/or call logs that you keep on your phone the laggy it will be, check my alternatives to back them up. sometimes when you flash your phone or do a factory reset and reinstall the app, the app doesn't recognize the app data stored on either the internal memory and/or sd card.
you see my calendar entries are important to me.. thanks
