How do you close a browser tab?

I've got am Xperia S and have just updated the software on it by plugging it in to my computer. Now when I open a new tab on the web browser there is no option to close a tab you are no longer using. The menu has changed when I press the menu key and it has a little menu thing on the side when you swipe a finger from the side of the screen to get quick access to your open tabs but I have no idea how to close a tab. I don't want endless tabs open so i'm hoping somebody will have a clue for me on how to close the tabs now.

Thanks

On GB when using the browser I click or touch the bottom right button/dot and choose windows this then shows all browser tabs and allows me to close them by tapping the "X" to the right

Hi Thommo, thanks for the answer, the the method you suggested is the exact way that I used to do it but since installing an update the interface has changed and I just cant find the option anywhere to close a tab.

On the wifes GS3 phone running ICS she has to scroll right to the top of an open browser page and in the top right corner she has a sort of layered window box which she has to press to get the options mention above as per GB

Thanks Osiris, almost exactly as you say apart from you have to press the tabs button on the semi circular controlls and it wil bring up a list of open tabs. This then gives me the option to close open tabs. Where as before I was hovering over the tabs button and previews of the web pages were displayed. Nearly had every web page ever created open.

No worries mate ,there really should have been a set of instructions for the new features in the ICS update.Another handy one is if u hold on home button u get a list of recent apps really handy I`ve found, another that wasnt new but took me a while to find if u do a pinch zoom bringing fingers together on home screen u get allicons from ur home screens floating so u dont have to flick thru all of them. If u check on youtube u can find a lot of new features of ICS (Ice Cream Sandwich) explained
