you can't unless you root your phone, once you get ICS in few weeks you will be able to "disable them"

Thankyou for a quick reply.

So is it safe to root them... If i install an app remover and remove them, do i void the warranty?

it's complicated to root the Xperia U at the moment, you will find options by unlocking your bootloader, that's a no no, why? you will lose your DRM keys forever, who needs DRM keys anyway, well you do, apps like track ID will stop working, so, I don't use TrackID, well it doesn't end there, you won't be able to repair and update your phone with PC Companion and/or Sony Update Service, and if something goes wrong your warranty is gone, also it's quite easy to damage your phone if you unlock the bootloader.

it's safe if u know EXACTLY what u're doing, since there are a lot of system apps with inter-dependencies so if u remove the wrong app it may cause other apps to stop working...

as for warranty, it's still a grey area and u risk losing your warranty the moment u unlock the bootloader...

or as uliwooly said, wait for ICS and u can disable certain apps, altho the level of the "disable-ble" apps is nowhere near that of a rooted phone

i read about DRM keys affecting TrackID also, altho up until now i still use TrackID without any issues and i have yet to find a single thing that failed to work as a result of lost DRM keys... the only thing i've probably noticed is the missing FBLike button in the Music Player, but that's it... i've since removed anything FBiX and TS from my phone too...

and i've read somewhere that FBiX gallery sync will fail too but i don't use that so IDK...

it could, as Sony said that it was after the Xperia P, the Xperia S, July, Xperia P August, Xperia U september, it will make sense.
