How do I center the contact image?

I normally use a rectangle cropped image for my contacts but since I'm using.Google Contacts now to backup and sync my phonebook, I notice that the contact images are cropped to a square. Now this may have been fine but it's positioning the square image on the top left in a very unpleasant manner. People without contact images have the default picture centered and positioned nicely. Why can't this be the the case everytime?

Hi, after a few hours of tinkering, I figured out how to do it myself! I made a blog post about it so that others may benefit as well if they're unhappy about it.

Hi,

Unfortunately we all get this the small square contact photo on top left before when Sony Ericsson sync available I use to get a full screen contact picture but Sony Ericsson sync was closed and need to transfer to Google sync till that date I use to get that small square contact picture....

So I'm sorry no options is available there...for Google sync..

Only way is disable the Google sync and set contact pictures manually from gallery....with rectangle cropped...

If you got anymore quarry keep me updated...:D

Good.....nice...appreciate you're work....:D

But there's a problem that is...you set those pictures manually like that which is time taking but it's ok....BUT suppose you're phone messed up and you need to do a phone repair or factory reset after it when you'll sync you're contact's you'll again get the square shaped pictures I believe...I've encountered it before as Sony stopped there contact sync service I selected all FULL SCREEN pictures and edited them at saved them at the sync service then I synced it with phone and I got full screen photos I was very happy and then I backed up again to google contact I mean I shifted but unfortunately I got a problem with my phone and I used phone repair that's all ..!!! Again back to those square pictures...so I believe mmmmm...its temporary after resting or repairing you'll again get back to those square ones...which you need again to edit them manually ;(

Yeah, that's one of the problems but I just don't want my contact images appearing ugly so I guess this should do. Dizzy_Face I'll find of more ways to do it easily but for now, I'm contented with this. Slightly_smiling_Face

Haha....yes..it looks bad....:p

I stopped giving pictures to my contacts.. For the above reason...but still now I do have a backed up contact securely transfered to my pc which I backed up in December...and when I import those contacts haha...I get full screen picture...FULL SCREEN !!! Luckily I backed up....:p

Another seamless solution without needing these kinds of hacks seem to be Microsoft's ActiveSync but that iwll be an unnecessary cost.

Really....so a big no for me...;)

@xperia-pro-user I synced my contacts with Sony Ericsson syncml service then where I got full screen pictures so I took a backup on my mem card before switching to Google sync so till now I've got that contact backed up but it's numbers are outdated...:p

This was irritating me a lot when the SE Synch service ceased. It may be a bit time consuming to do (and I make each Phone Contacts picture as the default picture), but your resolution is almost perfect, especially as I have the "certainty" of the elegant Google synch (for backing up) and I only have large pictures of those who matter the most (perhaps 20 out of 146 contacts!) It works fine for both my Arc and my wife's Ray - thank you very much for the tip Slightly_smiling_Face
